On Saturday, we got to meet cousin Steph's new baby girl Gwen. She was born on Friday and Leah loves babies and of course her cousin Evan, so we decided to take the hour plus drive to Waukesha to see them in the hospital.
The trip started out on a bad foot as we had just purchased an in car dvd player for Leah since we will be traveling to Minnesota and Nebraska this summer. It started out just fine then it just shut off. YAY! We figured it just needed a new fuse so we kept on driving while Leah sat in the back saying "watch animals Mommy watch animals" (she was watching Madagascar).
Before we took off, Steph had told me to bring directions because it would be a tough place to find. Our GPS hadn't been working (looking back it was probably the blown fuse in the cigarette lighter causing that problem too) so we used trusty mapquest. As we got into Waukesha we saw signs for the hospital. Great, I thought let's just follow them that seems so much easier. Nope. After about a mile the road signs just stopped. So here we were in a town we don't know, with 0 directions. So we called Steph and she said that they would be heading home soon so we could just meet them there. Now all we had to do was find our way out of this crazy town.
We somehow managed our way back to the interstate-of course driving right by the hospital we couldn't find-and sat down at a Culver's to enjoy a break. After eating, we went out to try and figure out the fuse situation. Ry mentioned that he had seen an auto place down the road so we went there and bought a new fuse. Problem solved right? Well, for an hour anyways. Now, we headed back to Hartland, dvd player working-to shop until Steph and Derek made it home.
After about an hour at Kohl's we went to visit. The whole ride up I kept telling Leah she was going to see baby Gwen. She thought we were going to see a baby penguin. She insisted that the new baby's name was Penguin:)
Baby Gwen is a perfect little lady-tiny, and maybe a touch groucy-but she had had a long few days:) Steph looked amazing and so calm-I can only imagine the chaos she must have felt especially with people in her home and not to mention, a 3 year old. Leah and Evan played like old friends-they made us hot dogs and french fries in vinegar-fake of course-and they played with the popcicle play doh set we had gotten Evan as a big brother gift.
Every few minutes Evan would come over to whoever was holding the baby and give her a little kiss-what a great big brother! Leah also loved baby Penguin and would also need to know where the baby was at all times. They really were great kids!
We love you baby Penguin :)

Happy Easter :)
Happy Easter!
We had such a great holiday with family and friends :) Our holiday began on Thursday when we dyed eggs as a family. Ryan and I had some difference in opinions when it came to how to do this. He wanted to hard boil them and dye them. But then they had to stay in the fridge and what fun is dying eggs if nobody can see them because they are in the fridge? So I decided to blow the yolks out that way we could keep them out. Well, good idea in theory. Since they float when put in the dye I had the idea to use a wisk and put the egg in there and then put it in the dye. We also had to use bigger cups.
So this worked well, until it came time to take them out of the dye. We then had to try to drain all the water out of the eggs. It actually took a while for this to work! And since I only have 2 wisks the whole thing was a little too much for Leah who lost interest and ran to play. Oh well:) The eggs looked pretty good in the end
And since we waited so long to dye them we ended up not doing anything with them. Next year we will hard boil them just to make life a little easier:)
Then on Friday we had plans to go to Grandpa Bahler's in Monroe so we did Leah Easter basket before we left.
This year, Leah got a Hello Kitty coloring book, a Sesame Street coloring book, The Story of Easter book, a chocolate bunny, a little bubble machine that blows the bubbles for her, a water bottle with her name on it and some little bracelettes from the Target dollar sections. The bubble machine was her favorite but she had the best reaction to the bracelettes
Then we went to Monroe and Leah got to play at the park with Grandpa, drive the lawn mower, "drive" Grandpa's truck and van, push the carts around the warehouse and drive a forklift at Uncle Brian's work. And this was all on Saturday! On Easter Sunday we all went to church and Leah loved showing off her pretty dress
She did a great job in church where she drew a pitcure for Uncle Bruce and and for Adrienne. She really was a good girl! After church we went over to Uncle Doug's for lunch. Leah loved taking all her friends into Doug's office to play with all of Evans toys. We even went to the basement to try out Ev's drum set and tent
We also had 2nd Easter with my Mom's side of the family. We went to my Grandma and Grandpa's house along with my cousins and Brian and Jenn and Leah had an egg hunt and got another Easter basket. She is one lucky lady to have family that love her so much!
